Authorities are looking for a man who fled Wednesday from a Sherwood courtroom after being sentenced to a year in jail.
A spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department said Conrad Everett, 23, was being escorted from the facility by a bailiff when he fled on foot.
Everett made his way to a Volkswagen Passat and then led authorities on a chase from Sherwood through North Little Rock. The car stopped at 18th Street and Percy Machin Drive, and Everett then fled on foot, police said.
Sherwood police spokesman Lt. Jamie Michaels said she didn't know whether it was a high-speed chase, adding she had no information that Everett was handcuffed.
Authorities searched the area near 17th and Allen streets for some time but ceased searching about 10 a.m. after the K9 apparently lost the trail. Michaels said the Sherwood units that pursued Everett had returned to service by 10:45 a.m.
Everett fled the courtroom about 9 a.m. Court staff said later Wednesday that he had been sentenced on charges of animal abandonment, having an animal at large, not having a city pet license and having a pet without a rabies vaccine.
