Model Airplane Club Meeting
HEBER SPRINGS — Anyone who builds or flies model airplanes or wants to learn how to do so is invited to a meeting of the Heber Springs-area model airplane club at 6:30 p.m. The club meets at the Heber Springs Community Center, 201 Bobbie Jean Lane, across the street from Auto Zone and behind Michael’s Italian Restaurant. Mountain Man Rendezvous
LESLIE — The second annual Leslie Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held Friday and Saturday. Re-enactors will wear pre-1840s period clothing and camp in tents in Leslie. The rendezvous will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. There will be knife- and tomahawk-throwing demonstrations, as well as shooting demonstrations. NEW DIXIE — There will be a spaghetti and sausage dinner featuring homemade rolls and peach cobbler from 4-7:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Hall, 24 St. Boniface Drive. CONWAY — The Conway League of Artists is hosting the annual Tri-County Exhibit at the Faulkner County Library. The exhibit is open to artists in Conway, Faulkner and Perry counties. There is more than $1,500 in prize money, along with other awards. The league will accept entries from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the library, and those participating must be a member or join the Conway League of Artists. CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library and the University of Central Arkansas’ Confucius Institute will offer Adventures in Chinese Culture at 2 p.m. Saturday. Participants will learn the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. The class is limited to 30 people, and sign-up is required. Also, a class on Chinese paper crafts will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 26. PANGBURN — The Pangburn Band will have its sixth annual Chili Cook-Off from 5-7 p.m. in the Pangburn School Cafeteria. The local chapter of the Corvettes will be special guests. The cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat chili. During the cook-off, there will be an auction with auctioneer Doug Pierce. Following the chili cook-off, there will be a free performance by the Pangburn Band, Choir and Jazz Ensemble. All are invited to bring a pot of chili to compete for the title Best Chili. RUSSELLVILLE — The AARP Safe Driving Program, hosted by Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital annex. The class is available to drivers age 55 and older. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers, payable to AARP the day of the class. Complimentary pastries and coffee will be provided. CENTER RIDGE — First Baptist Church Center Ridge will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the completion of its new 15,000-square-foot facility. The structure features a gymnasium, an industrial kitchen, office space, preschool rooms, a nursery, a youth room, 10 classrooms, a food pantry and a clothes closet.
