Two trustys captured after brief escape in Garland County

Two non-violent trustys escaped from the Garland County jail on Friday morning, but were apprehended a short time later.

Ryan Rimmer and Richard McCoy, escorted by two Garland County deputies, were taking a breakfast cart to the juvenile facility on the jail grounds at 6:15 a.m. when both men fled on foot, according to a statement from the Garland County sheriff's office.

Rimmer and McCoy were caught a short time later near the intersection of Arkansas 70 and Arkansas 270 west, authorities said.

Rimmer was being held on a probation violation from previous theft charges and was taken back to the Garland County jail, authorities said. McCoy was being held on a parole violation from a failure to appear charge, for which he had already served his sentence. He was taken to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
