FORT SMITH — A 5-year-old boy who was reported missing and later located in New Mexico has been safely returned to his Arkansas home.
Philip Pevehouse with the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office says Quinn Whitsitt was home in Central City Friday with his grandparents, who are his legal guardians.
The Times Record reports that a warrant was issued in Sebastian County Circuit Court on suspicion of felony interference with child custody for Quinn's mother, 25-year-old Rainy Rhae Whitsitt. Whitsitt was arrested by FBI agents on Thursday about a mile from her home in Rio Rancho, N.M.
An arrest warrant affidavit says Rainy Whitsitt is accused of taking Quinn from his legal guardians' residence about 1 a.m. Thursday without their knowledge or permission.
Quinn's grandparents reported him missing about 6 a.m.
