Pine Bluff authorities are searching for a would-be robber who landed his victim in the hospital with a gunshot wound.
About 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jarvis Davis, 19, was at the University Deli at 1019 N. University Ave. when an unknown black man walked up to him, pulled a gun and demanded money, according to a statement from the Pine Bluff Police Department.
A fight ensued in which both men struggled over the gun and Davis was shot in the stomach, authorities said. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center by a friend and underwent surgery, police said.
Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Officer Robert Wagner said the bullet penetrated Davis' skin and tissue but didn't hit any organs and that he is expected to recover. No arrests have been made in the case.
