A Little Rock bank executive and former member of Gov. Mike Beebe's policy staff has been named to the Arkansas Highway Commission to replace John Burkhalter, who resigned to focus on his bid for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.
Beebe said Thursday that he picked 29-year-old Frank Scott Jr., an executive with First Security Bank, for the post.
"I've watched Frank develop from an eager young man to an experienced, knowledgeable and fair-minded professional," Beebe said in a statement. "I can’t help but think of the gubernatorial appointment I received as a young professional, and I know Frank will make the most of this opportunity."
Scott, who spent five years as Beebe's director of intergovernmental affairs, is a member of the board of directors for the Little Rock Port Authority and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, the statement said.
Scott's appointment runs through Jan. 14, 2017.
