A plane reported missing Monday in Madison County was found there Tuesday morning and an Oklahoma couple reported killed. Major Blake Sasse, an information officer with the Civil Air Patrol, said a helicopter crew from the Benton County sheriff's Office helping with the search spotted debris at about the same time a ground crew found the crash site.
A husband and wife died in the crash, said Madison County Sheriff Phillip Morgan. Their bodies were found at the scene of the crash. Morgan said their identities were not being released pending final identification and notification of next of kin.
The single-engine plane was flying from Sylacuga, Ala. to Claremore, Okla. It disappeared from radar south of Hunstville about 2 p.m. Monday, according to information provided by the Federal Aviation Administration. FAA investigators are on their way to the scene of the crash.
