A 64-year-old pharmacy owner fired a gun once into the ceiling of his business Monday after being confronted by a gunman demanding pain medication, authorities said.
The would-be robber, whom police have not identified, then fled the scene without getting any drugs.
It happened about 5 p.m. at Medic Pharmacy at 6221 Colonel Glenn Road.
Police say the robber, a black man in his 30s wearing a blue hoodie and standing about 6 feet tall, entered the business, placed a note on the counter, pulled out a gun and demanded "all your Oxy."
The pharmacy owner, 64-year-old Steven Smith, moved to the back, advised the man he had a gun and then "fired his Smith and Wesson Governor into the ceiling of the business," according to a Little Rock Police Department report.
The would-be robber then ran out of the pharmacy.
Officers searched the area but didn't make an arrest.
