Tech-park board votes downtown Little Rock location as best site for park

The Little Rock Technology Park Authority Board voted Wednesday that a site in downtown Little Rock will serve as the lead location for the future Little Rock Technology Park during a specially called meeting at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences campus.

The site, which would be located in vacant buildings and lots along Main Street, received four out of six first-place votes, earning the top spot. Three members voted for the location at Interstate 630 and University Avenue site as their top choice, while the site near the University of Arkansas at Little Rock received no first-place votes. The UALR site was the second-place choice for five of the seven members of the board, however.

The board previously said that it would vote Wednesday after almost two years of deliberation and hearings. It will now move forward with plans to work on developing the lead site, with the other two sites serving as back-up locations.
