Trumann police officer shoots man after pursuit

TRUMANN — Authorities are investigating after a Trumann police officer shot a man while attempting to serve a warrant.

Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson says the shooting happened Tuesday when police officers were serving a felony warrant on a man. Henson says the man took off running once police arrived.

Henson tells The Jonesboro Sun that the man pulled out a gun and threatened an officer. The officer opened fire, shooting the suspect in the chest.

Police say the man was taken to a hospital in Memphis. Investigators with Arkansas State Police are looking into the shooting.
