Man tried to pilfer 78 cans of beer, police say

A Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday on accusations he attempted to steal a large quantity of beer from a local gas station.

Jeffery Williams, 46, was arrested after, police say, he tried to steal one 18 pack and two 30 packs of beer from the Exxon station at 6001 Base Line Road, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. Williams and another man, identified as Donnie Ray Talley Jr., then fled in a silver Jeep, according to the report.

They were found by officers at another Exxon gas station at 10423 Chicot Road and questioned by authorities before being taken into custody.

Williams acted belligerent, according to police, and was charged with theft, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was later taken to the Pulaski County jail on a parole hold.
