Ex-correctional officer wanted in rape case surrenders

A former Arkansas Department of Correction officer wanted on a warrant in a rape case has turned himself in, authorities said Friday.

Pulaski County sheriff's office Lt. Carl Minden said in an email that Colin Breshawn Toatley, 23, surrendered to the court Friday. Online records show Toatley is being held at the Pulaski County jail with bail set at $150,000.

Minden said Thursday that DNA and other physical evidence from the Oct. 17 rape report led to a warrant being issued for Toatley. He faces charges of rape and terroristic threatening.

Toatley is accused of offering to follow a woman home from a Little Rock bar for her "safety" and then attacking her, threatening to kill her and sexually assaulting her at her residence outside North Little Rock, according to a police report.

A spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Correction said Toatley had worked as a correctional officer at the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker beginning in May. He later resigned and his final work day was Sept. 26.
