Ozark Bathhouse up for business proposals

HOT SPRINGS — The National Park Service is accepting proposals from businesses who want to open shop in an historic bathhouse in Hot Springs.

The Ozark Bathhouse has been home to the Museum of Contemporary Art, but that facility is to close at the end of October. The Park Service on Thursday set a Feb. 27 deadline for proposals to be submitted.

The Ozark was built in 1922 and is among historic structures on Bathhouse Row on Central Avenue that the Park Service is allowing to be repurposed for business use.

The Ozark stopped functioning as a bathhouse in 1977. The Park Service renovated the building and stabilized its foundation prior to it reopening as a museum in 2009.
