The legislative task force created to examine health-insurance options for public-school employees selected its leadership Friday during the group’s first meeting.
Sen. Jim Hendren, R-Gravette, will serve as the chairman of the State and Public School Life and Health Insurance Program Legislative Task Force. Rep. Harold Copenhaver, D-Jonesboro, is the task force’s vice chairman.
The task force also adopted its rules and reviewed the legislation passed during last week’s special session that created the task force.
Hendren said he expects the task force will “listen to a lot of experts and testimony” and hopes to present “solid recommendations” to the Legislature.
The 12-member task force is required to submit recommended changes to the Legislature by June 2014.
A final report is due June 30, 2015.
