Style Show

SEARCY — Searcy Beauty College and its future artists of hair and nails will present a style show at 5 p.m. at The Lightle Center, 2200 E. Moore St. The event, which will benefit the White County Aging Program, will feature a showcase of future professional artists as they display their craft, featuring hairstyles and nail designs on models of all ages. Every donation will earn the contributor tokens to use to vote for a favorite model. Each dollar is worth one token. Admission is free. Enjoy refreshments, a raffle for prizes and the opportunity to make a donation.

AARP Potluck Dinner

CABOT — Cabot’s AARP chapter will hold a potluck dinner, entertainment and a short monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the Cabot Senior Center, 600 N. Grant St. Members and those interested in membership are invited to attend.

Tea Party Meeting

SEARCY — The Independent Tea Party of White County will meet at 6:30 p.m. at IHOP in Searcy. Magic Show and Costume Party

NEWPORT — The Arkansas State University-Newport/Iron Mountain Regional Arts Council Children’s Series will get underway at 6 p.m. when magician Rocky Clements brings his Show of Wonders to the ASUN Center for the Arts. Admission is free, and children 12 and younger are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Children will take part in a parade of costumes at the front of the stage prior to the performance, and treats will be distributed at the conclusion of the event.

Arts Center Reception

Craft Sale and Country Store

SEARCY — The annual Trick-or-Treat on the Square event will be held from 5-7 p.m. in downtown Searcy. Flu-Shot Clinic

NEWPORT — A flu-shot clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 108 of the Center for the Arts at Arkansas State University-Newport. The clinic is open to the public. The flu shots will be given at no cost, but the shots will be filed with the recipients’ insurance providers, and those receiving the vaccine are asked to bring their insurance cards.

Photography Contest Entry Deadline

MAMMOTH SPRING — The Mammoth Spring Tree Board and the Spring River Lions Club are sponsoring a photography contest open to area residents. A tree must be present in the photo, and photos do not have to be mounted. The contest is open to youths and adults, and the deadline for entry is Friday. The first-prize winner will receive $100, second place will receive $50, and third place will receive $25. Photos can be turned in at the Mammoth Spring City Hall. Holiday Extravaganza

SALEM — The Fulton County Fair will host the third annual Holiday Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday in the Hickinbotham-Miller Exhibit Building at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Salem. Annual Kirk of the Hills Holiday Bazaar

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Holiday Bazaar will begin at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall, 250 Dave Creek Parkway. There will be baked goods, home-canned pickles, relishes, jams and jellies, soup and cookie mixes, as well as handmade items, including crafts, jewelry, art, embroidered items, holiday décor and fun items — all made by the ladies of the Kirk. Along with the bizarre, knives will be sharpened for a modest donation. The Kirk Men’s Club will serve a lunch of their famous grilled hot dogs. Pioneer Village Fall Fest

SEARCY — Pioneer Village will host its annual Fall Fest from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 and from 1-4 p.m. Nov. 3 at 1200 Higginson St. There will be costumed guides, and all buildings will be open. The family-oriented event will feature music, food, pioneer games for children, handmade items, crafters, demonstrations and a bake sale. Memorial Ceremony

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Masonic Lodge will conduct a special memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at Capt. Andrew R. Porter’s monument in the Oaklawn Cemetery. In 1847, Porter led his company of Independence County mounted volunteers at the Battle of Buena Vista during the Mexican-American War. He was killed leading the charge against an enemy artillery position. The ceremony will include a flag presentation and wreath laying by the Knights Templar Honor Guard, and a special Masonic funeral service. The ceremony will conclude with “Amazing Grace” played on bagpipes. This event is open to the public.
