Lauren Elizabeth Stewart and Capt. John Clifton Melton exchanged marriage vows at 4 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 20, in Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs. Chaplain Maj.
Jeremy Miller officiated.
Parents of the bride are June Wendolyn Smith Luplow of Conway and Kelly and Col. John Michael Stewart of Vilonia. She is the granddaughter of Dena and retired Col. L. Michael Stewart of Houston; and Mary Ruth and retired Lt. Col. James Glass and Jeanie and James Harold Smith, all of Fordyce.
The groom is the son of Debra Lynn and Otis Vernon Scott of Texarkana, Texas, and Susan Marie and Russell Scott Melton of Little Rock. His grandparents are Ruby Dell and Herman Lavelle Ethridge of Malvern and Patsy Jean and the late James Arvin Melton of Lono.
Arrangements of ivory roses decorated the altar. Music was by pianist Deanna Smith.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown embellished with pearls and rhinestones and carried a bouquet of ivory roses.
Maid of honor was Jackalyn Small of Conway. Bridesmaids were Nicole Melton of Little Rock, sister of the groom; and Katelyn Luplow and Jenna Luplow, sisters of the bride, and Ryan Hiltenbrand, all of Conway. They wore marine blue strapless gowns.
Flower girls, all cousins of the bride, were Presley Stewart of Sherwood; Anna Stephens and Julianne Stephens, both of White Hall; and Saylor Smith of Conway. Ring bearer was Kohen Smith of Conway, also cousin of the bride.
Best man was Jesse Edward Melton of North Little Rock, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Jason Melton of Lono, cousin of the groom; Russell Scott Melton Jr. of Longview, Texas, brother of the groom; Jacob Stewart of Conway, brother of the bride; and Christian Stephens of White Hall, cousin of the bride. Guests were seated by Jonathan Daniel Scott of Sherwood and Pvt. 1st Class Patrick Harrell of Malvern, cousin of the groom.
Participating in the saber ceremony were Capt. Adam Warford, 1st Lt. Brandon Renfro, 1st Sgt. Ronald Woods, Staff Sgt. Joseph Reisz, Staff Sgt. Kenneth Witt and Harrell.
A reception at The Regency in Hot Springs followed the ceremony. Guest tables covered in white cloths were centered with a mirrored tile holding tall cylinder vases with floating candles.
The bride attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and is a student at Baptist Health Schools in Little Rock studying nuclear medicine.
The groom has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from UCA. He is operations manager of Diamond Bear Brewing Co. and commander of C Company, 1-153 Infantry, 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will live in Maumelle.
