BERL DEAN COATS, age 69, of Jacksonville, passed away on Oct. 22, 2013. He was born Jan. 25, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Ark., to the late Berl C. Coats and Ella Mae Coats. Mr. Coats was a United States Navy Veteran and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Amanda Cotner.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Spence of Farmington, Paula McCann of Harrison, Mark Coats of Springdale; two brothers, Jimmy Coats of Sherwood, Mike Coats of Orlando, Fla., and seven grandchildren.

MACEO CULBERSON was born in Little Rock, Ark., to Obron and Minnie Culberson on June 11,1921. He went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 17, 2013.

Maceo is preceded in death by both parents; his three wives, Ophelia, Bernice, and Leola; his brother,Obron Culberson Jr.; his sister, Leola; his daughter, Jeanette Martinez; and his two sons, Rick and Dwight.

Maceo is survived by his sisters, Cleola Stevens and Ardell Coleman and brother-in-law, Harry Coleman; his sons, Maceo Culberson Jr., Maceo Eric Culberson, Maceo Wayne Brooks, Maurice (Vickie) Culberson, and Mark Cluberson; his daughters, Mildred (Michael) Wright, Beverly Carter, Allene Austin, Marilyn Wesley, Kathy (Zome) Christen, Rita Culberson; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Helen Mack and Beverly Hodge and stepson, Fred Hodge, and a host of other relatives.

WILLIE “JABOO” HADLEY, 28, Jacksonville, departed this life Oct. 21, 2013. Jaboo was a kind child who loved his family; especially his brothers and sisters, but most of all his grandparents. “Arkansas Loses a Pioneer in Pediatric Dentistry.” DR.

WILLIAM LOWERY HUMPHRIES JR., DDS, MS, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. He was born on Feb. 27, 1933 in Newport, Ark.

Predeceased: Father William L. HumphriesSr. and mother Jeanice Morgan Humphries, sister Alice Joyce Humphries Hall.

Survived by: Wife: Sarah Kay “my best friend and beloved wife of 57 years;” three sons, Harvey Shipp Humphries and wife Wendy Pirie Humphries, William Morgan Humphries and partner Robert Urban, Grant Tucker Humphries and wife Judith Bendinger Humphries, and also, Dr. Robert E. Richardson and wife Jeannie Pirie Richardson; grandchildren, William L. Humphries III, Pirie Anne Humphries, Tucker Stone Humphries, and Hudson Grant Humphries and extended family members.

Owner of dog, “Volcanic Express”, which won the national field trial championships at the Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, Tenn. “Volcanic Express” was also elected to the Arkansas and Texas Bird Dog Halls of Fame. Loved to shoot trap and won several Arkansas state trap shooting events. Won two Open Travel Fishing Tournaments on the White River. Fortunate to have been a member of several wonderful hunting clubs: CaulkIsland Hunting Club, Lost Island Duck Club, Peckerwood Duck Club, and Bayou Meto Duck Club.

Social: Charter member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, Riverdale Country Club, Little Rock Country Club, Pleasant Valley Country Club, Morgan’s Raiders at Marion Institute.

Miscellaneous: Cub Scout pack leader. Life Scout at Order of the Arrow. Taught Sunday School at the Second Presbyterian Church. For the Miller’s Swim Gem, chaired the committee to build the first 50-meter competition swimming pool in the state of Arkansas for Coach Jimmy Miller. “Played football, basketball, and golf. Had fun playing, but rode the bench in all three.”

HOMER L. MOLDEN SR., 68, Little Rock, departed this life onOct. 23, 2013 at St Vincent Infirmary, Little Rock. He retired May 2013 from the Little Rock School District. He was head custodian at Forest Park Elementary School where heworked for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Minister Homer Molden Jr.; father, Lawrence Molden Sr.; mother, Leona Molden; brothers, Leven Molden Sr., Rev. Clarence Molden Sr., Lucius Molden. DANNY EUGENE WILDMAN passed from this life on Oct. 23,2013 surrounded by friends and family. He was born Dec. 13, 1949 in Corinth, Miss., to Mae Dean (Taylor) Wildman and James Lorenzo Wildman. Danny grew up on a farm as an onlychild with his parents and the best ma-maw ever, Bertha Mae Taylor. The family later moved to Decatur, Ala., where he graduated from Decatur High. He attended the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and graduated with an M.A. in English.

After leaving Tuscaloosa, Danny moved to Memphis, Tenn., working first for his dad at a Greenhouse and then as a sound engineer and film editor at the Center for Southern Folklore. He later became a successful life insurance agent for Life of Georgia and had worked 30 years in this field before he became ill. After being transferred several times for business, the family settled in Little Rock, Ark., where he lived the last 23 years of his life.

Danny loved watching and playing sports and was an avid golfer. His love of music began in his hippie days when he taught himself the guitar and played in several bands. His interest in writing led him to the website Everything2.com where he wrote for many years under the name Dannye.

He leaves behind his wife, May Anne (Ouellette) Wildman and their only child, Sarah O. Wildman. He loved both as much as a man can love a family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, both born and raised in Mississippi.

A Memorial Service in his honor will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock on Nov. 2, 2013 at 3 p.m.

BEE BRANCH - Patricia Ann Jennings, 70, of Bee Branch,Ark., passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at her home. She was born Dec. 20, 1942 in Richmond, Calif., to Oscar Elwood and Audrey (Neely) Bankston.

She was awife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Oscar Bankston Jr.

BRYANT - William Richard “Dick” Craft, age 79, of Bryant,went to be with the Lord on Oct. 25, 2013, after a 28-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born June 22, 1934 in Southland, Texas. Richard held rank in the U.S. Army, AirNational Guard and the U.S. Air Force. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of The Arrow. Dick was employed for 30 years with IBM as a Customer Engineer. There was nothing he couldn’t rig together, repair or fabricate. He built a single-engine plane in his garage in Fort Smith, a 24-foot cabin cruiser in the backyard in Little Rock and a 2,200 sq. ft. home in Benton, not to mention the countless computers and robots he built. Richard had a great sense of wit, even at the end. He was a member and Deacon at Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. and Hazel Craft of Sweetwater, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Craft of Bryant; two daughters, Lenna Hopkins and husband, David of Little Rock and Lisa Smith of Bryant; four grandchildren, Brandon Smith of Fayetteville, Andrew Smith of Bryant, Nick and Tom Hopkins of Little Rock and one brother, John Gregory Craft of Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Ashby Funeral Home.

CABOT - James Norman “Slim” Chesney, 83, of Cabot,Ark., went to be with his Lord, Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. He was a retired truck driver.

James is survived by two daughters, Rose Stone of North Little Rock and Sylvia Bolin andhusband, Michael of Hot Springs; two sons, Ricky Chesney of Ward and James L. Chesney and wife, Kay of West Memphis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Whiteof Conway and Bernice Camp of Blytheville. CABOT - Senior Master Sergeant (Retired) Marion ClarkHall, age 93, of Cabot, left to be with Jesus on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. He was born Dec. 16, 1919, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., to the late Elvan V. and Della Marie Cassity Hall. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cabot and former member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Marion served his country 31 years during World War II and Korea. After retiring, he worked for General Telephone Company in Jacksonville for ten years. Marion enjoyed camping and swimming with his children and traveling the countryside with his wife.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Clara Hall; his children, Lt. Colonel (Retired) Richard Hall and wife Val, Gary Hall and wife Sherry, Danny Hall, Ericka Johnson and husband Alvin, Sonya Sneed and husband Dan, Linda Fanning and husband Carl, and Ricky Hall; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Don Hall.

Marion was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Hall; grandson,Mark Hall; and brother, Roy Hall.

GREENWOOD - Randy Tarver, 67, of Greenwood died Friday,Oct. 25, 2013, in his home. He was a retired drug wholesale rep. with JM Smith Drug Co., a Tank Commander in the Arkansas National Guard, attended the GreenwoodUnited Methodist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conway.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Tarver; two sons, Rusty Tarver of Greenwood, and Ryan Tarver of the home; cousins, Clay Lamey of Conway, Janice Lamey Young and husband Paul of Conway; aunt, Dora Libby Lamey of Conway; sister, Sally Tarver Ingram of Conway; brother-in-law, Bob Shepherd and wife Mona of Conway; and nieces, Kerri Davis of Conway and Laura Lee Southerland of Conway.

GREERS FERRY - Thaddeus Alexander “Buddy” Devlin Jr., 78, passed away Oct. 23, 2013. He flew for the United States Air Force, Trans American Airlines, and UPS. Mr. Devlin was a Christian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Richard Devlin.

HAMBURG - Mrs. Lois Kathryn Atkins, 90, of Hamburg, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. Mrs. Atkins was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in the Berea Community East of Hamburg. She lived in Johnsville as a child and moved to Hamburg in 1938. Smart as a whip, creative, and resourceful, she began her adventurous life with her husband, William “Buddy” Clark Atkins, at age 19. An army wife, she followed him while he was stationed on land, and then settled down to wait for his return as he continued his service overseas. Their family grew and Lois shared her numerous gifts with the fishing pole, paintbrush, and sewing needle, with her large extended family and the community of Hamburg. She was a homemaker; a member of the Hamburg Presbyterian Church and attended the First Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will bedearly missed.

She is preceded in death by “Buddy,” her beloved husband of 65 years; son-in-law, Major Jimmy Minshew; her parents, Ira Green and Malinda Jane Ferguson; four brothers, Ira, Ernest, Daniel and Harry Ferguson; and grandparents, John Adair and Malinda Catherine Gifford Adair.

HEBER SPRINGS - Peggy D. Smith, widow of William Charles Smith, and retired banking executive, passed away Friday, Oct. 25 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. HOT SPRINGS - Carolyn Sue Morgan Rush, 80, went to bewith her Lord on Oct. 24, 2013, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on Oct. 9, 1933, the only daughter of Ora Mae Morgan andModie Daniel Morgan. She married Marshall Neil Rush on Aug. 8, 1953, in Pine Bluff, Ark., and they lived happily together for 52 years until his death. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, and two daughters, Allison Lee Rush and Kathryn Sue Rush.

Her survivors include one daughter, Stephany Rush Slagle and her husband, Terry Malone of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Marshall Morgan Rush and his wife, Donna of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Richard Lynn Slagle Jr., Colin Grady Rush Slagle, Amy Slagle Sellars and her husband Kris Sellars, Marshall Anthony Shields and his wife Jennifer, Ashley Elizabeth Garner, Kaitlan Alexa Rush Capel, Sarah Ryanne Capel, Mason Blain Rush, Marshall Mattison Rush, Morgan McKinley Rush; eight great-grandchildren, Laikyn Lynn Slagle, Braxton Neil Garner, Carson Jeffrey Braswell, Lily Scarlet Shields, Jackson Lee Sellars, James Ryan Sellars, Joshua Richard Sellars and Joseph Aron Sellars; and one half-brother, Richard Neil Morgan of Midlothian, Texas.

She was a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family. She was an active member of the Republican Party and served as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Miami, Fla., in August of 1968. While attending the convention, she was honored to share a dance with movie legend John Wayne. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, the highlight being the annual family hunting trips to Texas.

She lived most of her life in Pine Bluff, Ark., and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Ark. She later moved to Hot Springs, Ark., and moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Ark.

She was a beautiful lady with bright, shiny eyes, a beautiful smile and a sweet nature. She was an exceptionally strong woman with a huge heart. She was a blessing to her family and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Also, a visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark., with a graveside service following at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor John McCallum officiating. He was born June 17, 1927, in Hickman County, Ky., to the late Carlos Dewey Johnson and Annie Lee Hicks Johnson. Jim was a Real Estate Appraiser and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Johnson was a charter member of the Kentucky Farmhouse Fraternity at the University of Kentucky.

WARD - Helen Emilea Rooney, 74, of Ward, Ark., was born toHelen Trotter and Dewitt Bland. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on Oct. 25, 2013. Emilea was loved by many, and also loved so many. She will leave a mark on everyone she came into contact with. Emilea was an active member of Cabot United Methodist Church and had a faith like no other. She loved her time with the Extension Homemakers Club and United Methodist Women.

LOS ANGELES - Chiles Burnett Lee Sr., 92, passed awayMonday, Oct. 21, at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. He was born July 2, 1921, in Kilmarnock, Va. He moved to Los Angeles in 1955 and was employed as a CPA for Hughes Aircraft until heretired in 1985. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.

His survivors are one son, Chiles Burnett Lee Jr. (Wilma) of Benton, Ark.; two daughters, Cloteal Y. Lee Morton of Little Rock, Ark., and Frances Donison Rose of Englewood, Calif.; one brother, Whittier C. Lee (Debora), of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Ola Lee Welborn (Thomas) of W. Orange, N.J., and Ellen Lee Burke of Orlando, Fla.; three grandsons, Michael A. FORT WORTH - Lucy Mae Weatherley, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loved ones. Lucy was born March 16,1927, in Des Arc, Ark. She graduated from Des Arc High School and married Grover Weatherley of Des Arc in 1945 after he returned from World War II. Lucy and Grover had six children: Grover George, Sherman and Peggy were born in Des Arc, followed by the births of Donald, Ellen and Sandra after moving to Fort Worth in 1955. Lucy was a longtime member of Longvue Baptist Church and rarely missed a church service. She was famous for her bread pudding that she always made for church suppers. Lucy also loved sharing her homemade jams and jellies with church friends and neighbors. She was an active member of the PTA and was always there for her friends and neighbors, showering them with cards and flowers on special occasions. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; a son, Grover Jr.; parents, Millard and Winnie Tallent; and grandson, Daniel Bailey. Survivors: sons, Sherman Weatherley of Fort Worth and Donald Weatherley and wife, Lynn, of Weatherford; daughters, Peggy Bailey and husband, Larry, of Godley, Ellen Mathison and husband, Keith, of Arlington, and Sandra Parra and husband, Daniel, of Burleson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
