Conference: 1A-5 North
Coach: Megan Tutor
Number of years at school: First year, and first year of coaching
2012-13 record: 20-17 overall
Returning starters: Hannah Hartman, 5-5 guard
Best inside players: Talyn McCoy, a 5-10 center, is an inside threat for the Lady Rebels. McCoy will help take pressure off our guard play. Chloe Andrews, a 5-7 forward, is an all-around athlete. She is a defensive specialist, as well as a threat on offense. Emily Poole is a 5-7 forward who is coming off a knee injury. Poole continues to improve each day and will help the Lady Rebels’ inside game.
Best outside players: Hartman, a junior, has the most experience in senior high ball. The Lady Rebels will count on Hartman to be a consistent shooter from outside. Teal Luyet, a junior, is a great leader and will help balance the Lady Rebels. Sophomores Taylor Usery and Lindsey Bean are tough players who can shoot outside but will also take it to the basket. Madeline Beck and Lexi Andrews are our best ballhandlers. They both possess good speed with the ball and will help push the ball. Katie Green is a sophomore who plays hard on offense and defense.
Team strengths: The team is very versatile. Each girl brings something different to the team. We have five girls who will be able to run the ball well, while at the same time, we have a different five who will be able to slow down the game. The advantage of this young team is that the girls have all played together since junior high, so they have good chemistry.
Team weaknesses: We only have one senior, who is out right now due to injury.
Games to watch: Wonderview, Guy-Perkins and Nemo Vista are good games to watch. They are close schools who are also conference teams.
In a nutshell: The Lady Rebels are enthusiastic about the upcoming season. We have set several team goals. We will continue to work hard and improve until those goals are met. The Lady Rebels will play fast on offense and be aggressive on defense. Being so young, the Lady Rebels are prepared to play as hard as possible in order to have a successful postseason.
