OOO LA … VANILLA

Cutting through all the pumpkin spice scent and flavor that’s so popular this time of year is … vanilla.

I’ve been enjoying a sample of Lavanila’s The Healthy Pure Vanilla Fragrance ($58), a blend of Madagascar vanilla, freesia and heliotrope created by natural perfumers using “the finest pure essential oils.” It’s described on the Lavanila website as “more vanilla bean than vanilla cookie.” I like to mix it with my go-to scent, patchouli. (Lavanila’s Pure Vanilla Fragrance already has patchouli, along with tonkabean.) Get it at lavanila.com. Sephora also carries Lavanila products.

FACE TO FACE

Are you a fan of the Darphin skincare line? You’ll have a chance to prepare to put your best face forward for the holidays. Facials will be given during a Darphin event Wednesday-Thursday at Feinstein’s, 5600 Kavanaugh Blvd. Among the Darphin products to be showcased are the Stimulskin Plus collection designed to address aging concerns - wrinkles, age spots, loss of firmness - and restore the skin’s youthful appearance; and for the body, Nourishing and Firming Velvet Cream ($55) and Nourishing Satin Oil With Red Ginger Essential Oil ($45). In addition to the facials, makeovers featuring Kevyn Aucoin cosmetics will be given. Call (501) 664-7330 for an appointment.

REELIN’ IN THE YEARS

If you need something a little more involved to turn back the cosmetic hands of time, Dr. Richard Wilson is offering noninvasive wrinkler eduction, skin tightening and body contouring at Peau Chic, located inside Salon Corde at 2611 Kavanaugh Blvd.

Services are given via Exilis and Sublative skin rejuvenation technologies. Exilis combines radio frequency waves and heat to separate fat cells and stimulate collagen production; recommended number of treatments is between four and six sessions, seven to 10 days apart. General prices include $300-$500 per treatment for facial areas; $400-$600 per treatment for body areas; and $550 per treatment for one facial area and one body area. Those who prepay for a package of four or five treatments get an extra one free.

Sublative is a laser-free treatment said to stimulate new collagen growth in the deep dermis and is used to treat “textural irregularities, wrinkles, acne scarring and sunspots.” The treatment works with any skin color or type and takes 20 minutes, according to a fact sheet. The procedure is described as “not entirely painless” but “bearable.” Three to five sessions are advised, four to six weeks apart, for gradual improvement. The cost of the treatment depends on the size of the area, number of treatments and intensity levels.
