Location: Trailhead is on Spillway Road in Natural Steps, 0.28 miles west of Arkansas 300. Parking is limited.

Length: Hiker’s choice. It’s only a mile round trip to the first scenic vista of the lake, or go as far as you’d like along the Ouachita Trail before returning. The Oklahoma portion of the trail is 219 miles away, if you want a really long hike. Take water.

Main attractions: Therolling, well-marked dirt path is fairly easy and features scenic views of the lake - even better once the leaves have fallen.

Hazards: Obey the sign and do not hike below the spillway.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? Kids and Fido will love this section of the trail.
