LR driver arrested after car hits tree

Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas detained a man Saturday evening after the man’s car hit a tree near the chief’s home, according to a police report.

Buddy Land, 43, of Little Rock tried to leave the scene after the accident but was detained by Thomas, according to the report.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. near 224 Pine Valley Road. The house at the address belongs to Thomas, according to the Pulaski County Assessor’s office.

The report states Land had an odor of “intoxicants,” bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and a suspended driver license, according to the report.

Land was treated at a local hospital before being taken to the Pulaski County jail. Bail was set at $2,900, according to the report.

Land was no longer at the jail Sunday night.
