State troopers find marijuana in gift-wrapped box

FORREST CITY — Arkansas State Police arrested two men after discovering three pounds of marijuana hidden inside a slow cooker that was wrapped like a birthday gift.

According to an arrest report, troopers stopped a car along Interstate 40 last Thursday for a traffic violation. The report says police discovered two boxes "wrapped up like birthday presents" in the back seat of the car.

According to the arrest report, the two men in the car were "very nervous" and did not want troopers to touch the presents. The Times-Herald newspaper reported that a drug-sniffing dog alerted on one of the gifts. When troopers unwrapped the box, they discovered a slow cooker with several plastic bags containing marijuana.

The men remain in the St. Francis County jail Monday on drug charges.
