LR police identify Kanis Road body

Little Rock police have identified the female body found along Kanis Road on Saturday as 40-year-old Dawntea Arthur.

Volunteers cleaning up trash at the 7900 block of Kanis Road discovered Arthur’s body in the woods on the north side of the street just after 9 a.m. Police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said the body appeared to have been placed there after the woman died somewhere else.

“At this time the only information releasable as to cause of death is trauma to the body,” Davis said in an email Monday.

Police still didn’t have a suspect or motive in the death Monday. Arthur didn’t have a permanent address, but stayed at various locations in Little Rock and surrounding areas, Davis said. When Arthur’s body was found, she was wearing a white T-shirt, black underwear and had red shorts around her ankles, according to a police report.

Her death marked Little Rock’s 29th homicide this year. There were 42 at the same time last year.
