Offensive tackle flips, picks Aggies over Hogs

Junior college offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who orally committed to Arkansas in July, switched his pledge to Texas A&M on Monday after taking an official visit over the weekend to College Station, Texas.

Eluemunor, who plays at Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna Community College, said on his Twitter account that he changed his mind because Texas A&M “felt like home” and he liked the direction the Aggies program is headed.

Eluemunor, 6-5 1/2, 315 pounds, was expected to start immediately for the Hogs next season and be a big part of their revamped offensive line. He cited his relationship with Coach Bret Bielema and offensive line coach Sam Pittman and their ability to help him get to the NFL when he orally committed to the Razorbacks.

Oral commitments are nonbinding.

He had more than 20 scholarship offers when he committed Arkansas, including offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Florida State, UCLA, Texas A&M and Penn State. He had orally committed to UCLA before giving Arkansas a commitment.

Eluemunor thanked the Razorbacks’ coaches and fans after announcing he was changing his commitment to Texas A&M and said he wished for “nothing but the best” for Arkansas.

Eluemunor also said he was shutting down his recruitment. He said he would not take calls from other coaches and that he was done with his visits.

The loss of Eluemunor leaves Arkansas with 17 commitments for the 2014 class.
