Memphis sex trafficker gets 44+ years

MEMPHIS — A Memphis man has been sentenced to 44 years and eight months in federal prison for using violence to force eight women and two teens to work for him as prostitutes.

The U.S. attorney's office in Memphis says 38-year-old Terrence Yarbrough was sentenced Tuesday.

Yarbrough was convicted in December on 10 counts of sex trafficking and one count of conspiracy to commit food stamp fraud.

Ten victims, some as young as 15, testified at trial against Yarbrough, known as "T-Rex." They said Yarbrough forced them into prostitution by beating them with belts and crowbars and burning them with irons and boiling water.

One victim testified Yarbrough forced her to engage in prostitution when she was pregnant with his child and induced her labor through a severe beating.
