Police seek woman in LR forged-checks case

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who is believed to have used a check stub she found in a Little Rock woman's trash for unauthorized purchases, the Pulaski County sheriff's office said Thursday.

A female resident on Shackleford Road told police on Oct. 17 that someone had rummaged through her garbage and stolen one of her Regions Bank check stubs that she had discarded, according to the sheriff's office report.

The woman told officers that she had looked at her bank account's balance and discovered that $216.91 worth of unidentified items had been bought at the Home Depot located at 12610 Chenal Parkway. She said an unknown purchase of $29.36 had also been made on the Arkansas.gov website.

Anyone with information about the theft or forgery is asked to contact the Pulaski County sheriff's office at (501) 340-6940 or Central Arkansas Crime Stoppers at (501) 340-TIPS (8477).
