Frankenstein 1930

BENTON — A stage production of Frankenstein 1930, the horror classic, will be presented at 7 p.m. today at the Royal Theater, 111 S. Market St. The play mirrors the venerable 1931 movie. The show was adapted for the stage by Fred Carmichael from Mary Shelley’s story of a monster brought to life by the megalomaniac Dr. Frankenstein. Tickets for the show are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. Family Fall Festival

BENTON — The Saline County Library will hold its annual Family Fall Festival for all ages from 4-6 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Story Contest Entry Deadline

BRYANT/BENTON — Today is the deadline for teens ages 13-18 to enter the One-Sentence Horror Story Writing Contest at both Saline County Library locations. Instructions can be picked up at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant and at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton. Prizes will be awarded to the top-three stories. Leadership Awards Luncheon

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — A Leadership Awards Luncheon will be held at noon at the DeSoto Club Event Center, 100 Clubhouse Drive. The keynote speaker will be COO and general manager David Twiggs. Henderson’s Annual Halloween Celebration

ARKADELPHIA — Henderson State University’s annual Halloween celebration will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. as the university provides a safe atmosphere for trick-or-treaters. Henderson Halloween will be held outdoors on the campus’ South Lawn in front of Arkansas Hall. Numerous campus groups will be set up throughout the area to hand out treats. Information Meeting on Affordable Care Act

BENTON — The Ralph Bunche Neighborhood Association will host an information meeting on the Affordable Care Act at 6:30 p.m. at 1600 Dixie St. in Benton. The meeting is free and open to the public. The event will include presentations from licensed assisters who will provide an overview of Arkansas’ affordable health insurance; discuss how to get enrolled and who is eligible; and respond to questions and concerns. Die Fledermaus

ARKADELPHIA — Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music/Opera Theatre will present Johann Strauss II’s comedic opera Die Fledermaus, or The Revenge of the Bat, at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday in the Jones Performing Arts Center. Holidays at Hurricane

BENTON — The fifth annual Holidays at Hurricane will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hurricane Creek Elementary School. Vendors will showcase jewelry, home and holiday decor, children’s items, fashion, handbags and more. There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction. Live entertainment will be provided by the Bryant High School Honeybees and Bethel Choir. Admission is $3 for adults. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free. Shade Plant Society Meeting

HOT SPRINGS — The Ouachita Hosta and Shade Plant Society will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Garland County Library. A social time will be held from 9:30-10 a.m., followed by a program on Hardy Ferns presented by Yvonne Becker. Becker is a past president of the Garland County Master Gardeners and the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, and was honored as Master Gardener of the Year in 2004.

First-Time Homebuyers Class

HOT SPRINGS — A free class for first-time homebuyers will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Transportation Depot, 100 Broadway Terrace.
