The construction of a new bridge over Clear Creek will cause a traffic shift on Interstate 530 in southern Pulaski County.
The shift will begin Thursday afternoon and will last four months, according to a statement from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. The shift will require I-530 in the area between the Woodson Road and Hensley Road exits to condense to one lane in each direction for the next four months so work can be completed.
A concrete barrier will be placed along the stretch of road to separate the lanes. The southbound lanes will be used for both directions of traffic.
The project as a whole, which also includes the resurfacing of 7.4 miles of road leading up to the bridge, is expected to be completed next summer.
Motorists are asked to be cautious when driving through the area.
