FORT SMITH — A councilman in Fort Smith wants the city to erect a four-way stop sign at an intersection where an Alma High School teacher was killed in a traffic crash.
The Aug. 29 accident claimed the life of 31-year-old Crystal Gale Buswell of Greenwood. Her car was hit by a dump truck at Chaffee Crossing at the intersection of Chad Colley Boulevard and Massard Road.
The Southwest Times Record reported that city board member Kevin Settle says the panel has approved a lot of development in the area and that a four-way stop would make the intersection safer.
At present, there are stop signs on either side of Chad Colley Boulevard.
The city traffic department started a traffic count at the intersection Wednesday.
