TEXARKANA — The new city manager in Texarkana is the old city manager.
Council members voted Thursday night to rehire Harold Boldt two months after approving a $162,000 severance package.
Boldt's supports said they wanted a him to come back and complete economic development projects he had on the table when he left. Opponents said it was time to move on.
The board voted 4-2 to approve his rehiring.
Boldt told the Texarkana Gazette newspaper that he was grateful to return.
Boldt quit in March, and the city approved a severance package in July. The Arkansas Ethics Commission cleared Boldt of allegations by a resident that he was too closely involved in a planned convention center, hotel and water park.
The city is discussing what should happen to the severance package.
