Case involving 107-year-old man's shooting death sent to prosecutor's office

Four days after a 107-year-old man was shot and killed in a standoff with police in his home, the case has been sent to the prosecutor's office.

The case file involving the shooting death of Monroe Isadore was sent to the Jefferson County prosecutor's office Wednesday for review, according to a statement from the Pine Bluff Police Department. The case file was delivered to the office at 4:20 p.m., authorities said.

It wasn't immediately clear whether charges would be filed against any of the involved parties. Calls to the offices of Pine Bluff Police Chief Jeffery Hubanks and the prosecuting attorney were not returned late Wednesday afternoon.

Monroe Isadore was killed after he locked himself in the bedroom of a residence at 1411 W. 16th St. in Pine Bluff around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Isadore, who was in possession of a handgun, shot at local police and later at SWAT team members through a bedroom door before authorities shot and killed him.

Prior to the shooting, authorities attempted to negotiate with Isadore to come out of the house peacefully, then used a spy camera and gas to check his position and force him out of the home. When neither worked and Isadore began shooting, deadly force was used, according to police.

One officer was placed on administrative leave Sept. 9, according to a previous report in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
