Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has rejected the wording of a proposed ballot measure that would legalize marijuana for participants in a statewide "study" on the drug.
McDaniel on Wednesday rejected the proposed initiated act by a group called Arkansas Concerned Citizens that would set up a 10-year study on marijuana. McDaniel must certify the wording of the proposed measure before the group can begin gathering signatures to place it on next year's ballot. McDaniel rejected earlier versions of the measure in 2011 and last year.
McDaniel said the group hasn't resolved past problems with the measure, including ambiguities about the study and concerns that it would violate federal law.
Arkansas voters last year rejected a proposal to legalize medical marijuana.
