Girlfriend held in Cabot shooting that critically injured man

A 32-year-old Cabot woman has been arrested in a June shooting that left her then-boyfriend in critical condition, authorities said.

Halelle Hooten, 32, is accused of shooting the victim the night of June 2 at her apartment, 898 W. Myrtle St., the Cabot Police Department said in a news release.

The victim was shot three times and was airlifted from the scene to a local hospital, where he was initially in critical condition. Sgt. Keith Graham said the man was in stable condition but still hospitalized when Graham last checked about a week ago.

Hooten is charged with first-degree domestic battery and is due in court Friday.

Graham said Hooten and the victim were in a relationship when the shooting happened. He didn't have information on what prompted the shooting.
