SAN ANTONIO — Welcome to a library without bookshelves or stern librarians. In fact, there are no physical books at all.
The San Antonio Express News reported Sunday that BiblioTech is the nation's first-of-its-kind digital public library system.
Patrons can pick electronic books via a mobile device. The choices come from a computing cloud, or via large touch screens. BiblioTech is equipped with 700 e-readers.
It also has 200 enhanced e-readers preloaded for children, 48 iMac desktop computers, nine Mac laptops, 40 iPads, four interactive touch screen tables and an X-Box gaming system on two large screens.
The e-book collection includes 10,000 titles and growing.
