The state Highway Commission has approved three bids for road improvements in Pulaski and Faulkner counties, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department announced Tuesday.
The largest contract was awarded to Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. of Fort Worth, Texas for the widening of Interstate 40 from two to three lanes in each direction between Mayflower and Arkansas 365 near Maumelle, the department said. The project, which will cost the state $21,493,477.72, is scheduled to begin within the month and be completed by spring 2015.
The second-largest contract was awarded to Redstone Construction Group, Inc. of Little Rock for the resurfacing of about 0.9 mile of Main Street in Little Rock between Roosevelt Road and Interstate 630, the department said. That work will cost $270,412.06 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, according to the department.
In North Little Rock, another resurfacing project for 1 mile of I-440 has been awarded to Interstate Improvement, Inc. of Faribault, Minn. for $141,975.20. That work will occur just north of Arkansas 165 (England Road) to just north of Faulkner Lake Road, the department said. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
