Tulsa-based Magellan looks at pipeline in Arkansas

TULSA — Tulsa-based Magellan Midstream Partners LP says it's assessing interest in a potential pipeline to transport refined petroleum products from its terminal in Fort Smith to Little Rock.

The project would include a 12-inch pipeline to carry 75,000 barrels a day of gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel the 160 miles between the two Arkansas cities. Magellan said Monday that the project would provide the Little Rock market with access to refined products from Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast refineries.

The company says pipeline could be operational in the third quarter of 2015 depending on the results of comments from potential customers and on permit and regulatory approval.
