FORREST CITY — A prosecutor is asking state police to investigate after Forrest City's police chief allowed his daughter to attend a law enforcement training academy as an unpaid officer.
The Times-Herald reported that Prosecuting Attorney Fletcher Long is seeking an investigation into actions taken by Forrest City Police Chief E.P. Reynolds. According to records the newspaper obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, Reynolds' daughter, Jasmine Reynolds, attended the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in June 2012.
The documents show Jasmine Reynolds was serving as an unpaid officer when she attended the academy. A letter from the Office of Law Enforcement Standards says Jasmine Reynolds was not a qualified law enforcement officer eligible to attend the academy because she wasn't paid a salary.
The police chief declined to comment.
