A Lonoke man was arrested Thursday night after leading authorities on a chase in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
Shortly after 8 p.m., Beebe police began the pursuit of a 2006 Chevy Trail Blazer northbound on Arkansas 31 near Mount Tabor Road, or Arkansas 236, after determining it had been stolen. Lonoke County deputies joined the pursuit when the vehicle crossed the county line, according to a news release from the Lonoke County sheriff's department.
In the course of the chase, the driver — identified as 26-year-old David Ballard — forced two deputies' vehicles off of Mount Tabor Road and into a ditch, the release states. Ballard also damaged private property as he drove through residential yards on Joyner Loop. After driving through a fence and crashing into a tree, police said, Ballard then fled on foot into a wooded area nearby.
Authorities found Ballard a short time later, took him into custody then turned him over to Beebe police, the release states. Ballard faces felony charges in Lonoke County, authorities said.
