Teens held after armed robbery of driver at intersection

Two teens were arrested Thursday night after robbing a driver at gunpoint at a Little Rock intersection, authorities said.

Kieran Adams, 19, and Zayzhon Thompson, 17, are each charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, the 31-year-old victim was stopped northbound on Main and 17th streets about 6:30 p.m. when a white Oldsmobile Delta 88 swerved in front of her and stopped.

The victim told investigators a man who appeared intoxicated got out, approached her on the driver's side and asked for directions. The man reportedly then reached into her car to get her purse, pulling out a gun and telling her "Don't fight" as he did so.

After getting the purse, the man got back in the Oldsmobile and sped away east on 17th Street.

The victim took down the license plate number, police said, and the car was later found at 35th Street and Bankhead Drive, where it had been involved in a wreck. The occupants had fled the scene.

Thompson was identified as one of the passengers, authorities said, and he was located at his Little Rock home before being transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Adams was later found seeking treatment at UAMS Medical Center, the report said.

Two others who were in the car, including the man who wielded the gun, were not arrested, police said. The gunman was described as a shirtless black man about 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds who wore black-and-white camouflage pants.

The report didn't indicate the severity of the injuries to Adams or Thompson, but there was one indication that they weren't serious: Both suspects were being held Friday in the Pulaski County jail.

An arrest report for Thompson indicates he is being charged as an adult.
