Trinity Episcopal Cathedral was the setting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, for the marriage of Laurie Ann Laing and Charles Richard Burnham. The Rev. Canon Paul McLain officiated.
Sybil and Buddy Laing of Hot Springs are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth and the late Nelson Laing and the late Lois and William J. Todd, all of Little Rock.
Parents of the groom are the late Lee Carol Burnham and the late Charles Allen Burnham, both of Devil’s Lake, N.D. His grandparents are the late Beatrice Burnham, the late Charles Robert Burnham, the late Margaret Madsen and the late Les Madsen, all also of Devil’s Lake.
The altar held a pair of all-white garden arrangements of larkspur, roses, stock, snapdragons and gladiolas. Music was by soloist Christopher Pilcher of Memphis, cousin of the bride, and Tom Lee, the cathedral’s director of music. Scriptures were read by Greg Laing, brother of the bride,and Matt Harrison, cousin of the bride.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless peau de soie satin gown with a chapel-length train. The fitted bodice was embellished with bronze beaded lace. She also wore a chiffon bolero jacket with cap sleeves shirred at the shoulders. Her bouquet was filled with ivory roses.
Maid of honor was Nicole Tucker of Memphis. She wore a black silk-shantung sheath dress with cap sleeves accented with black crystals and rhinestones at the neckline. She carried a bouquet of lipstick roses.
Serving as best man was Sam Dillon of San Jose, Calif., cousin of the groom. Guests were seated by Nelson Laing, Justin Laing, and Christopher Laing, nephews of the bride, and Hunter Harrison, cousin of the bride, all of Little Rock.
A reception at Pleasant Valley Country Club followed the ceremony. A table in the club’s foyer held an arrangement of lipstick roses, lime green spider chrysanthemums, bells of Ireland and alstroemeria. Guest tables held bubble bowls with the same flowers. Assisting was Megan Harrison, cousin of the bride.
The bride is a graduate of the University of Memphis and has bachelor’s degrees in political science and sociology. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and a Sigma Chi Little Sister. She is owner of Accelerated Medical Solutions and a franchise manager of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning ofArkansas.
The groom attended San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, Calif., where he was on the dean’s list. He is owner of Burnham & Laing Computer Services.
After a honeymoon in the Garden District of New Orleans, the couple will split their time between Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Little Rock.
