Traffic in both directions will shift lanes this week on Interstate 530 in southern Pulaski County, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said in a statement Monday.
The department said I-530 southbound traffic will shift into a new bridge's southbound lanes Tuesday. The bridge is south of Bingham Road in Little Rock.
On Wednesday, officials said, northbound traffic will be shifted to the southbound inside lane on I-530. Traffic in both directions will be funneled into one lane in the upcoming months while a northbound bridge is reconstructed, according to the statement.
The department has previously said crews are resurfacing 7.4 miles of I-530 southwest of Wrightsville. The $13-million construction project is scheduled to finish by summer 2014.
Department officials ask motorists to be alert and cautious while traveling through construction zones.
