Purse snatched outside Little Rock library

Little Rock police are investigating after a purse-snatching outside the Sidney S. McMath Library on John Barrow Road.

Officers were called about 3:17 p.m. Monday and spoke with a woman who said a white man came from behind her and grabbed her purse as she walked into the library branch at 2100 John Barrow. The woman struggled with the robber, who pushed her away and ran with her purse into a wooded area near the library, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. The robber didn't say anything, the victim told police.

He made off with the victim's pink wallet and IDs, $87 in cash and more than $500 in money orders, the report states.

The robber was described as about 5 foot 8, 140 pounds, with an unkempt beard and dirty blond hair, wearing a dark shirt, camouflage pants and carrying a black mesh backpack, according to the report. The victim told police she thought he might be homeless, given his appearance.

Police scouted the area for someone matching the description but turned up nobody, the report states.
