A Midway man was arrested at the Baxter County court complex Wednesday after, authorities say, he attempted to deceive them in a court-ordered drug test.
Shawn Austin, 36, was ordered to a urinalysis drug screening by Circuit Judge Shawn Womack as part of a contempt of court proceeding, according to a news release from the Baxter County sheriff's office.
During a second attempt to obtain a urine sample from Austin, a probation officer discovered he had duct-taped a plastic bottle of urine to his scrotum, the sheriff's office said.
Austin was charged with obstruction of governmental operations, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Baxter County jail. He was released on $240 bond, authorities said.
Austin is due to appear in district court Oct. 13.
