One person was killed and another person was injured from a car wreck on Friday night in Pike County, authorities said.
The accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. in dry and clear conditions, according to an Arkansas State Police report.
Police say Jeremy Barfield, 34, of Nashville was traveling south on Arkansas 27 in a 1973 Jeep with Terah Mumau, 32, of Nashville in the vehicle's passenger seat.
Barfield purportedly applied the Jeep's brakes, which sent the vehicle into the opposite lane, according to the police report. He attempted to regain control of the Jeep, but the vehicle overturned twice and Barfield was ejected. A coroner pronounced Mumau dead at the scene.
Barfield was taken to the St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana for unspecified injuries, authorities said.
It was not immediately clear what caused Barfield to apply the Jeep's brakes.
Mumau's death marks the 354th fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
