A North Little Rock man was upset with the Pulaski County sheriff's office early Tuesday morning so he used a baseball bat to bust out a pair of windows at one of the agency's substations, authorities said.

Terry Gatewood, 49, remained in the Pulaski County jail late Tuesday morning on charges of first-degree criminal mischief and impairing the operations of a vital public facility. Bail was set at $10,000.

According to a sheriff's office incident report, North Little Rock officers took Gatewood into custody after responding a reported disturbance at his residence on Knight Drive. He then acknowledged breaking two windows at the sheriff's office northeast substation at 4323 Roundtop Drive earlier that morning, the report said.

"Gatewood advised [the North Little Rock officers] that he had done something bad today," Deputy Jeffrey King wrote in the report. "... Gatewood then advised both officers that he had gotten mad at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for not doing their job and went to their sub-station and busted out two of their windows with a baseball bat that was lying in the front seat of his vehicle."

The report didn't specify and an agency spokesman said it wasn't clear what had drawn Gatewood's ire.

Authorities recovered the bat, which they said still had small fragments of glass embedded in it.

The damage to the two windows was estimated at $1,000.
