A Little Rock teen is being held as an adult in a shooting last month that injured a Hall High School student, police documents show.

Cedric West, 16, remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday on charges of first-degree battery and aggravated assault. Bail was set at $30,000.

West was arrested Monday afternoon on warrants issued in a March 8 shooting.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, authorities began investigating March 10 when a student who wasn't involved approached a security officer at Hall High School and said the victim had been shot in the stomach over the weekend.

A police officer later spoke to the student, who initially denied being shot and said he had been injured by a dog scratch, but the youth later consented to an examination from the school nurse, police said. That revealed a "2-inch graze wound on the left side of his stomach," the report said.

The victim then told the officer that he had been shot two days before when a group of people including some he didn't know "rolled up on scooters" while he and another student stood outside a friend's house in the 4700 block of Princeton Drive, the report said.

Some in the group wanted to fight but later left on their scooters, the report said, noting the victim heard gunshots when they were about a block away. The victim "stated his stomach began to burn and he realized that he had been grazed by a bullet," the report added.

Police called the victim's grandmother, who took the victim from the school to Arkansas Children's Hospital for treatment, according to the report.

It wasn't clear if West was mentioned in the initial incident report, which was redacted to remove all juveniles' names. A separate report said he was arrested Monday afternoon at his residence on Carlton Drive in Little Rock and that he was being charged as an adult.
