Vehicle owner finds man sleeping in car in Little Rock

A homeless man broke into a Little Rock woman's vehicle Tuesday morning, went to sleep and then made a rude gesture when she tried to wake him up, authorities said.

James Barry, 31, was booked into the Pulaski County jail on charges including breaking and entering and public intoxication.

Little Rock police Lt. Sidney Allen said in an email that the victim went to her car in the 500 block of Cumberland Street early Tuesday and saw a man later identified as Barry passed out in her vehicle with a screwdriver in his hand.

"[The victim] advised she woke Barry up, but he gave her the finger and went back to sleep," Allen wrote.

Police responded and arrested Barry, who Allen noted was "too intoxicated to give a statement." He remained in jail Tuesday afternoon with bail not yet set.
