6 families displaced in Memphis-area apartment fire

MEMPHIS — At least six families are homeless after an overnight fire that destroyed part of an apartment building in the Memphis-area community of Cordova.

WMC-TV reported that Memphis firefighters arrived just after midnight Tuesday to flames shooting into the air from a third-floor roof at the Trinity Lakes Apartments, 7935 Club Drive, just west of North Germantown Parkway.

Fire crews contained the fire to one apartment building, but several units were damaged.

Fire officials said everyone made it out of the building safely. A fire wall helped prevent the blaze from spreading even further.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families.
