A North Little Rock man was arrested on several charges early Wednesday after a disturbance over a gun at his home, authorities said.

Michael Wayne Conder, 45, is facing charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member, second-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a handgun by certain persons and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Police say they were called to Conder's home in the 2200 block of North Berkley Drive to investigate a reported disturbance.

According to a North Little Rock police report, a woman who also lives there reported seeing Conder place an object behind a filing cabinet. She later looked and, upon finding it was a gun, reached to remove it, the report said.

"That's when Conder ran up behind her and pushed her so he could try to get the gun," police wrote in the report. "She stated she ran outside with the gun and Conder began threatening to kill her. He also said if she called the cops, he would get in a shootout with police."

The woman managed to lock the weapon in the trunk of a vehicle, where police later recovered it.

Conder was arrested about 12:20 a.m. in a bedroom next to the room of his 10-year-old son, the report said, noting Conder's other child was also home during the disturbance.

Police say Conder is a felon who is on federal probation. Online federal court records show Conder was sentenced in 2010 to 4 years in prison and three years of supervised released for a conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Conder remained in the Pulaski County jail later Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.

He should have been denied purchase of this handgun after filling out his ATF 4473 Oh, never mind, he didn't fill one out. The NRA kicked him from their membership. Oh, never mind, he wasn't a member. Does anyone see where this is going?

I disagree Pobucker. Our society is anything but civil anymore. But I agree on the 2 in the chest, 1 in the head.
