Captain America throws his mighty shield (again)

By The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

This article was published April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

It's barely spring and already we have the first summer blockbuster on our plate — Captain America: The Winter Soldier roars into the cineplexes Friday and our Piers Marchant has the breakdown.

But for those of you uninterested in superheroes, MovieStyle editor Philip Martin interviews Martin Scorsese’s longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker and reports on The Face of Love, an odd love story about a woman (Annette Bening) who falls for a gut who's the spitting image of her dead husband (Ed Harris).

Meanwhile, Dan Lybarger reviews Goodbye, World, about hippie survivalists facing the actual end of civilization. And Frankie & Alice, a film for which Halle Berry received a Best Actress Golden Globes nomination back in 2010, has finally made it to the theaters.

There's also a couple of French films — The Players and The Other Side of the Tracks — that we unfortunately didn't get a chance to preview.

And, in her HomeMovies column, Karen Martin tackles Roman Polanski's 1979 film Tess, which stars a remarkably young Nastassja Kinski.
